Bushfellow Lodge near Groblersdal was the setting of Dalene and Morris’s wedding. Surika, Miya and I left early on Saturday morning with Flossie the Photobus for the drive to Groblersdal. This is one of the things that we really enjoy about our job, seeing our beautiful country and getting to photograph and stay in some of the most beautiful locations in South Africa.
And getting into the bush and away from the city for a day or so is something we needed. All weddings are nice, but there is just something different about a wedding at a game lodge, far away from the city (in this case only 170 km from Pretoria) with all your best friends and family there. Everybody are always in such a jolly festive mood.
And this wedding was no exception, Morris and Dalene are two people who have a lot of very loyal friends, and everybody was intent on enjoying themselves and have a good time.
Morris and Dalene have known each other and their families for ever, 15 years to be exact, Dalene played hockey with Morris’s sister and eventually the one thing led to the next. And here we are 15 years later, they have a beautiful little daughter Mia and we are all systems go for their wedding.
Dalene’s parents own a lodge in Mosambiek…and they drove down all the way for the wedding. Talking about family. All three Morris’s brothers and his cousin were his groomsmen. I just love it when I see close knit families like this at a wedding that clearly live for each other and enjoy each others company.
The party went late into the night, no boring long speeches, just a lot of friends and family having a really good time celebrating a marriage that will clearly last the test of time.
