We travelled to Hartswater in the Norther Cape for the wedding. That’s one more thing I like about my job…seeing our beautiful country. Martin is not a guy that leaves anything to chance. He actually asked me for the telephone numbers of 20 brides that I have photographed…and phoned all of them to find out if they were happy with my service. (something I wish more people will do, it is incredible how many “fly by nights” there are nowadays)
Martin and I drove to all the places where we will photograph them on the Saturday morning to plan the shoot for later the day. What I really liked about the wedding is that all the photos were taken on the farm where Marieke grew up. Every wedding photograph has thus got VERY special meaning to her.
Her dad used an old barn on the farm and changed it into a fairytale wedding venue for his daughter. I will ALWAYS remember how welcome the people in this area of the world make you feel. The ” Tannie” where Marieke got dressed even had lunch ready for us when we arrived at her house to photograph Marieke. DANKIE TANNIE!
Marieke and Martin INSISTED that my wife and little daughter come to the wedding, instead of staying at the guest house. Her brother even arranged transport for Surika…thanks, I REALLY appreciated that!
