Sometimes at a wedding you can just see that a couple couldn’t wait to get married, that it is a very big thing for them, I like weddings like that, Ruan and Sherry-Lee’s wedding was one of those. It is the small special little things that count. Like Ruan that wrote a special message on Sherry-Lee’s shoes. have a look, I included the photo. Sherry-Lee cried her eyes out when she read that…almost as much as Ruan did when he saw the beautiful Sherry-Lee walking down the isle on the arm of her dad!
You could see that the moment they’ve put on the rings were very sacred to them.
We all had a ball of a time during the shoot, I looked like the two of them enjoyed every second, especially the kissing scenes!
The wedding was at the beautiful Zambezi point in Pretoria, as always when I am at Zambezi Point, everything is just perfect. Deonne, you and your team definitely deserve a medal or something for all these perfect weddings that you arrange and plan.
Ruan and Sherry-Lee, you have something so special, enjoy the rest of your marriage and please, always stay like you were on your wedding day.
I asked Sherry-Lee and Ruan a couple of questions:
How did you meet?
We met at a Nicci beach street party, was a little awkward at first but by the end of the evening we were having so much fun
Tell us about the proposal
We went to the Drakensburg in December 2013, little did I know it was “that” kinda holiday, I almost found the ring by accident and had Ruan stressing lol, we planned a hike 1400m above sea level, but started off as such a miserable day, so overcast and rainy, but we hiked non the less, and what a hike it was, we couldnt see anything, but by the time we got to the end of the hike up in the clouds, Ruan popped the question and just after that the clouds lifted and it felt like we were in a postcard the view was beautiful, the best proposal ever.
Describe your wedding day, anything specific that you will always remember
The wedding day was surprisingly calm, had loads of fun getting ready with my ladies and mom, there are so many things that ill remember for always, my dad seeing me for the first time, my mom just being there, my girls hanging out with me, my husbands face when i walked down the isle, and so much more ☺
The dress
I felt like a princess in the dress, it was beautiful, we hired it from Bridal room in Pretoria, had so much fun at the fittings with my mom and the dress alterator, Nico.
The Flowers
Flowers were done by Gerda at Zambezi Point, and she did an amazing job, all our expectations were exceeded, from the boutennierres to the bouquets and the centrepieces, and it was made extra special with the photos of my grandparents attached to my bouquet. THANK YOU SO MUCH GERDA!!!
Highlight of the wedding
Short and sweet…..the wedding itself was a highlight, and a day we will never forget, everything was amazing
Was there any drama
There was drama with the DJ, he played the wrong father daughter dance song
The Honeymoon
The honeymoon was awesome, we went to Mauritius for 7nights, truly amazing time with Ruan we ate lobster on the beach and drank cocktails out of cocnuts, we did plenty including catamaran trips and popping up to the “spar” to get wine and french loaves to sneak back into the hotel for lunch, awesome experience.
Tell us about your photographer.
JC and Bertie were great, I was so nervous about having to pose because I tend to pull faces, but they made me feel so calm, and the photos look amazing, we couldnt be happier ☺ THANKS JC. PS you are our official photographer now lol
Who did your make-up and hair?
Hair was done by hair by faith, Leigh Ann did a great job (082 699 7532)
Make up was done by a family friend, Jeanine, its not her day job, its a hobby, but the end results were amazing
Any other suppliers that you want to mention?
Cake was done by Tannie Ansie, everything ran so smoothly, I didnt have a worry about anything, and the cake was delish.
Where was your honeymoon?
It was in Mauritius at Preskil Beach resort
Do you have any advice for other brides/grooms-to-be?
DONT STRESS!!! there is seriously nothing to worry about, it is an awesome day, and you should take everything in.
What was your inspiration behind your overall wedding decor and colour choices?
The flowers were very sentimental to me, we used barbeton daisies and red roses to incorporate by grandparents, colour choice…i just loved the burgandy, and because we had the reception outside, it just gave the rustique a bit of oomph aswell almost like a ristique-elegance
