This was where Jerry and Marna got married, They had a small and intimate wedding, with just their closest and best friends attending. But they know how to party…that I can assure you.

Jerry works in Afghanistan, so he only gets to come home every couple of months, that made their union even more special. I only met them at the wedding, Jerry was still overseas when Marna chose me as their wedding photographer and Marna was satisfied with my work she saw on my website.

They are two fun loving people, I will remember Marna’s infectious laugh for a long time, it still makes me smile when I think how much fun they had with the photo shoot. Jan from Lechwe Lodge took us to a deserted place on the farm to photograph the newlyweds. (A filled cooler box helped to relax everybody)

They went for a walk one evening, just the two of them this time, and Elsje took a very special photo of a fisherman at sunset…she then knew, very special person, special sunset, special photo…everything just clicked.

Their romance has started.

Elsje went to Italy to market her art again…and Nigel went with. On the way back to England in the taxi he said to her he wanted to marry her…no ring yet.

It was a difficult situation because she was on her way back to South Africa. Nigel wanted to show his commitment and showed her an airplane ticket that he has bought…he wanted to meet her parents.

Elsje was back in SA, and Nigel in England.

Two months later he was in South Africa, after that they went on holiday to Sri Lanka..real globetrotters. It is fitting that they got married at a wedding venue in Potchefstroom with the name Around the World Wedding venue, have a look at the photos…beautiful place.

From June 2010 they visited each other in SA and England.

A beautiful story, two people that deserve to be together. Nigel is already back in England…without his bride, Elsje is just finishing work commitments and will follow him in April 2012.

Worst moment of the wedding: My car stopped without petrol on a deserted dirt road 9 km from Carletonville after the wedding on our way home. Luckily my two sons were with me and they hiked into town to get some petrol, when they arrived back with the petrol my battery was flat. And then it started raining! I’m making sure I have enough petrol in the car after this episode!

This is some bank notes from Barbados, where they met. Something special about Nigel’s ring that he doesn’t know yet. Elsje engraved the words : “Joune vir ewig” inside his ring. You must understand that Nigel doesn’t speak or understand Afrikaans, Elsje said that if he takes his ring off one day and see the engraving he must take a dictionary and find out what the words mean.

Elsje’s sister helping her to get ready, she ordered her wedding dress through the post from the United States….11 months before the wedding! Talking about putting pressure on yourself not to pick up weight!

Getting rid of some of the emotions just before the wedding at Feather Hill Spa in Potchefstroom, they also spend their honeymoon there.

I took some photos of all the wedding guests with this frame…I have never seen grown ups having so much fun with a frame, try it at your wedding!

The first thing that striked me about them is how much in love they are, even for a wedding photographer like myself that see couples in love every week this was extraordinary. I think they kiss each other on average at least once a minute.

We arranged a pre wedding photo shoot at Oxbow estate, I was really surprised with how at ease they were in front of the camera. I was now really looking forward to their wedding.

Talking about Oxbow Estate,it is a chic country style wedding venue and trout fly fishing estate in Gauteng. With beautifully manicured gardens and expansive highveld scenery it is a photographic and bird watcher’s bliss, make sure you check this venue out if you’re looking for a beautiful place to use as a venue. They are close to Bronkhorstspruit.

Where did Chris and Caryn meet?  They met at a cousins wedding, the night before the wedding Chris still said to a friend that he is giving up on women, there is no more good women out there. Caryn herself just came out of a bad relationship and DEFINITELY wasn’t interested in another one.

Caryn remembered the tall guy with the cute groovy smile, in a ridiculous blue satin waste coat (Caryn’s words)

It was love at first sight, Caryn asked him for his number, and they started sms’ing the same evening!

Very special moments at the wedding: Their kiss in church when the minister said: “You may kiss the bride.”  It was 18 seconds long, we timed it on the video afterwards. That must be some sort of a record. The minister’s dry remark after the kiss…”You can see they have been practicing”

I really like the next photo, the rooms where Chris and Caryn got dressed were right on top of each other. I got them to pose for this shot just before they went to the church. One photo of the two of them together, yet they couldn’t see each other!

The next two photos are really some of the most emotional moments I have ever seen at a wedding, I have never cried so much at a wedding. Caryn’s mum passed away when she was 10 years old, her dad Wal never remarried and he brought Caryn up alone. In fact, he is still wearing his wedding ring. ( You did an AWESOME job Wal) When they were sitting on the couch together he took out his wallet and took her mum’s wedding rings out and put it on Caryn’s finger. There were about 6 or 7 people in the room. We all just ran out crying and left them alone.

The moment when Caryn walked in was VERY emotional for Chris.

Their wedding had a vintage theme. Have a look at what Renate did with the tables and the decor, that was something quite out of the ordinary.

They are both bikers, and Renate organised an old motorbike with a side span to bring her to the ceremony…not even Derick knew about it!

This is two people that is very much in love, and as my wife always say: “Good things happen to good people” Very true in their case.

Their relationship is one of commitment, Jaco was staying in Krugersdorp and Lientjie in Potchefstroom, for 5 years Jaco travelled the 100+km to Potchefstroom every weekend and once in the week to visit Lientjie.

The wedding itself was held at Muranti wedding venue between Potchefstroom and Klerksdorp. This was a very special place for Lientjie as this was her grandfather’s farm and her mother grew up in the house that has now been revamped and used as the bridal suite. Muranti…the wedding was TOP class and the food divine.

Jaco is a very kind person, and very much in love with Lientjie, so I knew he was going to be very emotional when Lientjie walked in (check out the photo) I  offered him a 20% discount on his coffee table book if he shed no tears when Lientjie walked in. (He didn’t get the discount)

You get very few parties where there is such a huge party afterwards, a testimony to the kind of people they are and the friends they have.

Jaco and Lientjie, thanks for the honor you bestowed on me by choosing me as your wedding photographer, I really enjoyed being your wedding photographer.

Most funny moment at the wedding? You won’t believe this. The ceremony was outside in the garden. While the minister was conducting the ceremony, a big dog walked up the isle, past the bride and groom, and relieved himself (Nr 2) behind the minister in front of all the guests. This must have been the funniest hing I have EVER seen at a wedding.Look for the photo where Patrick and Claire is killing themselves laughing during the ceremony.  (I decided not to publish the photo of the dog)
